Run Things update - searching for a new charity partner

When we started Run Things, we never realised how many people would ‘get’ us, and how quickly we’d grow. We started out with a few mates who wanted to raise a few quid for charity and three years later, we have thousands of people taking part in our events, joining our club, listening to our podcast and supporting everything we do.

At the centre of everything we do is the link between mental and physical health. For us, running, exercise in general, and mental health are SO intrinsically linked. It’s why we chose to donate 50% of the profits from our event entries to the mental health charity Mind and honestly, we think that commitment and our drive to help and support people is why we’ve got such an incredible following.

The global pandemic of the dreaded C word has made us sit back, reflect and discuss our future. We’ve seen some great success and we’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds in the last year for Mind. What we’ve also seen, though, is smaller, less established charities suffering as their fundraising events and activities and donations from the public have gone through the floor. That’s why we’ve decided to diversify who we raise money for. Mind is incredibly important to us. And they will continue to get 25% of our profits.

We’ve decided to look for another charity to work with, to give them the other 25% of our profits. We haven’t yet made this link and frankly, we’re open to suggestions and requests. The charities we work with are incredibly important to us and what we stand for, so the partnership has to link closely to our ethos. We’re looking for a charity that works operationally; that is, they work with the public directly (we see Mind as our ‘policy’ charity partner). We want them to be charity that helps to support, develop and benefit the mental and physical health of the public. And most of all, we want them to work with us to promote each other and our work.

This change wont affect the way we work. We’re a same-old, same-old kind of pair, but we do see it as our duty to be transparent with our supporters about changes that are important to us.

If you have links to a charity who might want to work with us in this way, please do contact us. If you don’t, just be assured that we’ll continue to support you as much as you support us in any way we can.

With love, kisses, non-touchy cuddles and other things that are caring
